La semaine dernière, le Maroc et le Nigeria ont mis en place un comité directeur pour développer une assurance récolte durable au Nigeria.
Un consortium constitué de la Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), la Banque de l’agriculture du Nigeria, la Mutuelle agricole marocaine d’assurance (MAMDA) et MAMDA RÉ, l’américain Partner Ré et le français la Mutuelle centrale de réassurance soutiendra l’initiative. En outre, le capital de l’organisation est détenu par MAMDA (50%), l’américain Partner Ré (30%) et le français la Mutuelle centrale de réassurance. Pour rappel, la Mutuelle agricole marocaine d’assurance (MAMDA) et MAMDA RÉ, est un réassureur spécialisé dans la couverture des risques agricoles et climatiques.
Selon le directeur de NAIC, Folashade Joseph, ce partenariat permettra au « Nigeria de bénéficier de l’expérience du Maroc dans les produits d’assurance indicielle basée sur les rendements pour des superficies sélectionnées comprises entre 5 000 et 10 000 hectares ».
La création de ce comité s’inscrit dans la droite ligne des projets stratégiques liant les deux pays. En décembre 2016, quatorze accords bilatéraux avaient été signés entre Rabat et Abuja lors de la visite du roi Mohammed VI au Nigeria.
