La banque djiboutienne Salaam African Bank (SAB) a acquis Top Finance Bank Limited basée en Ouganda, a annoncé lundi 8 août 2022 la banque centrale ougandaise, Bank of Uganda (BoU), qui a approuvé l’opération.
« La présente vise à informer le grand public que M/s Salaam African Bank (ci-après SAB) dont le siège est à Djibouti a acquis Top Finance Bank Limited (ci-après TFB). Cette transaction a été conclue après l’approbation de la Banque d’Ouganda ‘’conformément aux dispositions de la loi sur les institutions financières (FIA) de 2004 et son règlement d’application’’ », note-t-on dans une déclaration de BoU publiée sur son site officiel.
Annoncée dans le cadre d’une stratégie d’expansion qui a amené SAB à s’implanter en Malaisie, en Éthiopie et au Kenya, entre autres, l’acquisition permettra à la banque djiboutienne, constituée en 2017, de proposer aux ressortissants ougandais des produits financiers 100% islamiques.
Plus importante banque en Ouganda, TFB a été enregistrée dans le pays en juin 2012 en tant que société avant d’obtenir sa licence d’établissement de crédit en septembre 2014.
