NIGERIA: Standard Chartered Bank entame la fermeture de la moitié de ses succursales

Standard Chartered va fermer la moitié de ses succursales nigérianes dans le cadre d’un virage vers les services bancaires numériques a rapporté Bloomberg , lundi 10 Janvier 2022. La banque n’exploite actuellement que 13 de ses succursales, contre 25 dans le pays. Elle met donc fin à l’exploitation d’environ 50% des succursales au Nigeria, une étape visant à donner la priorité aux services bancaires numériques.

Standard Chartered mise sur la technologie numérique pour attirer rapidement de nouveaux clients et envisage d’accorder des prêts pour traiter les petits prêts plus rapidement et augmenter le volume du crédit de détail.

La banque prévoit de fermer 50% de ses succursales et de réduire d’un tiers l’espace de bureau mondial, car elle cherche à réduire les coûts en adoptant de manière permanente des changements dans les pratiques de travail et les services bancaires de détail qui se sont accélérés pendant la pandémie de coronavirus.

En avril de l’année dernière, le directeur financier de la banque, Andy Halford, a déclaré que le prêteur axé sur les marchés émergents réduirait son réseau de 776 succursales à 400 après avoir connu moins d’utilisation pendant les confinements mondiaux en 2020.

L’empreinte physique de StanChart a diminué au cours des cinq dernières années. Elle exploitait 1 068 succursales en Asie, au Moyen-Orient et en Afrique en 2016, mais le Covid-19 a accéléré la tendance aux services bancaires en ligne et mobiles.
