L’Agence Française de Développement a signé un accord de financement avec la Bank of Industry (BoI) du Nigeria, le Mardi 23 Août 2022, dans le but de faciliter l’accès aux financements des initiatives existant dans le secteur, a-t-on appris de sources médiatiques locales. Ce sont 100 millions € (99 millions $) qui serviront pour les projets de lutte contre le changement climatique au Nigeria
Ce financement qui a été accordé à l’institution nigériane sous forme d’un prêt s’étalant sur une durée de 10 ans assortie d’un moratoire de 4 ans sera redéployé essentiellement vers des projets d’énergie renouvelable. Il permettra également de financer des projets dans le domaine de la production d’énergie efficace et à faible émission de carbone, des technologies agricoles intelligentes du point de vue climatique et du transport urbain propre, entre autres.
« C’est le début d’une relation à long terme mutuellement bénéfique et une étape importante pour la BoI, alors que nous augmentons notre capacité de prêt vert », a souligné Olukayode Pitan, directeur général de la banque, cité par Nairametrics.
Et d’ajouter : « compte tenu de la menace sérieuse que le changement climatique fait peser sur le développement équitable et durable au Nigeria, il est essentiel pour nous de prendre l’initiative de mobiliser des capitaux pour des investissements verts et durables ».
