Ecobank Côte d'Ivoire lance le paiement mobile Masterpass QR

A l’instar des pays comme le Kenya, le Nigéria et le Ghana, la Côte d’Ivoire est le premier d’Afrique francophone à expérimenter le paiement mobile Masterpass QR. Cette solution développée par Master Card et intégrée par l’application Ecobank mobile , a été présentée officiellement ce 15 mars à Abidjan ( Côte d’Ivoire).

 
Masterpass QR  vient faciliter les achats des clients en leur garantissant « des paiements mobiles, rapides, pratiques et sécurisés », a indiqué Charles Daboiko, directeur général de la filiale ivoirienne du groupe Ecobank.
 

Comment cela marche?

Les clients de la banque devront scanner le code QR (Quick Response) affiché à la caisse du commerçant ou sur un site d’e-commerce pour effectuer le paiement instantané de leurs achats.
 

Avantages

Le QR code est une technologie à la fois peu coûteuse et simple à mettre en œuvre car elle ne nécessite pas d’infrastructure autre que le réseau mobile. Une solution idéale pour les pays en voie de développement. Cette solution est un avantage pour les marchands dans la mesure où ils n’ont pas besoin d’installer un terminal pour effectuer une transaction.
 

Les inconvénients

Il faudrait  obligatoirement disposer d’un smartphone capable de lire un QR code, ce qui pourrait être un frein pour le déploiement du projet en Côte d’Ivoire.
 
Conçue à l’origine pour  rivaliser avec M-Pesa au Kenya, Mastercard a introduit ce système au Pakistan en 2016 avant de le déployer via Ecobank Group au Nigéria.
Masterpass QR et Ecobank, ont signé un accord s en juin 2015 . cette solution sera mise en œuvre dans les 33 filiales africaines d’Ecobank.
