Orabank Gabon et Sanlam Pan Assurances ont procédé, mercredi 16 juin à Libreville, à la signature d’un accord pour mutualiser leur complémentarité et fournir des produits financiers hybrides complémentaires aux Gabonais. La convention vise essentiellement à déterminer les conditions et modalités pour la conception et le développement des contrats d’assurance actuels et futurs.
« Cette convention, nous en sommes certains, va permettre de combler le gap qui pouvait exister dans l’offre faite à nos clients aussi bien en matière de banque, que de banque-assurance. C’est donc avec un grand plaisir et une grande joie que nous avons matérialisé cet accord cadre qui va permettre à nos institutions de mieux nous déployer sur le territoire national», a déclaré Christ-Didier Mengome, directeur général adjoint d’Orabank Gabon.
Pour sa part, Roger-Marc Pouget, directeur général de Sanlam Pan Assurances a indiqué que la banque et l’assurance sont deux mondes certes différents, mais qui sont cependant très proches. Il suffit, souligne-t-il, de faire la bonne combinaison pour que les deux secteurs en tirent profit.
Depuis plusieurs années, les principaux groupes bancaires et d’assurances présents en Afrique se fixent comme objectif de développer la «bancassurance ». Mais ils butent sur un obstacle majeur à savoir le faible taux de bancarisation des ménages et des petites entreprises.
