L’opérateur MTN Guinée a lancé la phase pilote de son réseau mobile 4G. L’objectif initial de l’entreprise est de déployer 36 sites dans l’agglomération de Conakry, lui permettant de desservir un potentiel de 13 % de la population.
MTN Guinée aurait l’intention de consacrer le mois de décembre à recueillir les retours des abonnés sur le pilote 4G et de s’en servir pour améliorer la qualité du réseau.
Cela sera suivi d’un déploiement massif dans le but d’atteindre 200 sites 4G d’ici juin 2023. MTN Guinée étendra ensuite le réseau 4G à d’autres régions du pays jusqu’en 2024. L’entreprise prévoit également un processus complet de modernisation de le réseau actuel. Cela débutera en janvier 2023.
L’attribution de cette licence à MTN Guinée a été faite par l’Autorité de régulation des postes et télécommunications (ARPT) de Guinée début février. Cependant, MTN Guinée est loin derrière Orange, qui a acquis son titre d’exploitation pour la 4G pour 90 millions de dollars en mars 2019, lancé deux mois plus tard.
